Difference Between Synthetic Oil vs. Regular Oil
Wondering about the different Mercedes-Benz oil types? Or even who makes Mercedes-Benz oil? Like regular oil, synthetic oil is made from refined crude oils and is comprised of base oil, powder additives, and carrier oil. Like regular oil, synthetic oil is made from refined crude oil. When comparing the two, the main difference between them is the amount of refining involved. Synthetic oil is refined, distilled, purified, and deconstructed at the molecular level. This level of refinement gives it several advantages over conventional oils, including:
- Reduced deposits
- Decreased friction due to similar molecule sizes
- Cleaner engine operation due to additives
- Offers higher performance in extreme climates
- The final product contains fewer impurities
